1998 RCS/RI |
The Retro-Computing Society of Rhode Island, Inc. hold their monthly Open House on the third Saturday of every month from 10:00am - 4:30pm at their facility in Providence, RI. See the online directions for instructions on how to get there.
On Open House days, the telephone line, (401) 861-1977, is staffed with bona- fide humans who can answer questions about the organisation and give detailed directions to their facility.
This month is our "back to school" special on workstations. We'll be featuring the Control Data Corp. Cyber 910 and the Apollo Domain DN300.
Also on display will be newer systems including Intergraph, Sun, VAXstation, HP-9000 and X-terminals.
This is the 21st anniversary of the first VAX-11/780 rolling off the assembly line. We'll be featuring some of our early VMS machines including the VAX-11/750, an Intergraph VAX 8550, the MicroVAX II and the VAXstation 2000. We'll also have some of our larger, Unibus based pdp-11 systems running the RSX-11M precursor to VMS.
This is the 4th anniversary of the founding of RCS and it was exactly two years ago that the University of Rochester made an extremely large donation that prompted us to rent the facility that we are currently in. We will be featuring the items from Rochester, which includes the DEC LINC-8, pdp-12, lab-k, the Packard Bell 250 and a Univac card punch.
We will be working on some of our systems that were manufacured by Digital, including PDP-8, PDP-11, VAX-11 and some of the smaller micros and terminals.
