Open House Archive


The Retro-Computing Society of Rhode Island, Inc. hold their monthly Open House on the third Saturday of every month from 10:00am - 4:30pm at their facility in Providence, RI. See the online directions for instructions on how to get there.

On Open House days, the telephone line, (401) 861-1977, is staffed with bona- fide humans who can answer questions about the organization and give detailed directions to their facility.

January 19th

DEC pdp-11/44

The Digital pdp-11/44 16-bit mini-computer. A work session to prepare the system for a future Open House.



February 16th

Unix workstations

The Sun 3/50 and 3/60 running SunOS, VAXstation 3100 M38 running Ultrix.



March 16th

pdp-11 micros

pdp-11 based micro-computers such as the PDT-11/150 running RT-11 and the Professional 300 Series running Venix and RT-11.



April 20th

pdp-11 minis

The 11/34 and 11/44 systems running RSX-11M and RSTS.



May 18th

Photo Shoot

This month we will be setting up some of our system to take photos for the website. Drop by and see the DECsystem 1090.



June 15th

Teletype

The ASR-33 and Model 43 Teletype.



July 20th

General Open House

There is a general open house today.



August 17th

RISC computers

The MIPS based DECstation and the POWER based IBM RS/6000.



September 21st

pdp-8

The Digital Equipment Corporation pdp-8 and DECmate.



October 19th

Symbolics

The Symbolics 3600, 3640 and 3670 Lisp Machines. The Genera operating environment and ZetaLisp. For more information, see the RCS "works in progress" website.



November 16th

networking technology

This open house will feature networking technology including: Chaosnet on Symbolics, Token Ring on RS/6000, and GTE Telenet X.25 comm gear.



December 21st

RCS/RI Bronze Anniversary

In December, RCS/RI will celebrate its 8th year of existence as a working group and its 5th anniversary as a non- profit corporation.
