The Open house on the 18th of February was a roaring success with the powering up of our operational PDP-12 following our move from last year and finding that aside from a single broken wire the machine was in good shape.
The usual confusion that accompanies any move was bothersome, and it took some time to find the LINCtapes that drive the machine, but once everything was located we fired the machine up. Still in its core memory (non-volatile magnetic RAM) was the editing session that we last worked on the machine at VCF East 1.0 in 2001.
The only problem found with the hardware was a piece of custom- work wire that had come unsoldered. Since this single wire controlled the clock for the serial line, we could get the machine to do things with the front panel and the analogue knobs, but could not talk to it via the RS-232 interface. Once that wire was located and repaired, the machine functioned normally and quite a number of folks enjoyed the rest of the afternoon playing "SPACEWAR!" and we inventoried several of the LINCtapes we have in the RCS/RI collection.
