This will represent the first time the DECsystem 1090's Front-End pdp11/40 processor has seen power for a decade. We anticipate doing an initial safety and sanity check on it, checking the power distribution and supplies, and ultimately lighting it up and trying to boot it from its DECtape units.
In July, we will revisit the DECsystem 1090's Front-End pdp11/40 by temporarily attaching a disk drive to it and booting it into RSX11 so we can read, and archive, the RSX20F DECtapes which we unable to boot from last month and get a command prompt. It will also allow us to run a really comprehensive set of diagnostics on the machine.
Each December, RCS/RI celebrates its anniversary. This year marks their 12th year of existence as a working group and their Ninth Anniversary as a non- profit corporation. This month we will continue work on the systems that were the featured topics of the previous open houses.
